Become a Police Civilian Investigator with PHX PD

As a Police Civilian Investigator for the PHX PD, you will help conduct investigations in support of law enforcement activities working in one of our investigative bureaus. Duties and responsibilities may differ among bureaus and may include authoring original and supplemental incident Reports, conducting follow-up phone calls, submitting cases for prosecution, assisting with crime scene processing and search warrants, and in-person contacts with members of the public, law enforcement, and various investigative partners. Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrate ability to perform routine clerical work
  • Six months of public contact or customer assistance experience
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Experience processing subpoenas
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Experience managing office supplies
  • Experience performing general administrative duties
  • Experience assisting internal and external customers
  • Experience staffing a reception desk and answering a multi-line telephone system
