These positions will perform a variety of tasks in support of law enforcement activities in a precinct or bureau of the Police Department. These positions will serve a critical role in supporting the department’s mission; to serve\, protect and reduce crime in the City of Phoenix while treating everyone with dignity and respect. \nThis is a uniformed position that involves handling calls for service not requiring the presence of a sworn police officer. Duties can vary by assignment location. \nThe Phoenix Police Department is a 24-hour 7 day a week operation\, patrolling more than 500 square miles. New hires must be willing to accept any shift assigned (which may include nights\, weekends\, and holidays) in any precinct which may include: \n\nBlack Mountain Precinct:           3355 North Cave Creek Road\nSouth Mountain Precinct:          12220 North 39th Avenue\nCentral City Precinct:                1902 South 16th Street\nDesert Horizon Precinct:           16030 North 56th Street\nMountain View Precinct:            2075 East Maryland Avenue\nMaryvale Precinct:                     6180 West Encanto Boulevard\nEstrella Mountain Station:          2111 South 99th Avenue\nCactus Park Precinct:                12220 North 39th Avenue\n\nEssential functions and duties include and are not limited to: \n\nComplete a 7-week Police Assistant Academy to include instruction in first aid\, defensive tactics\, investigations\, report writing\, Arizona Revised Statutes\, and O.C. spray. The classes will involve physical contact to include exposure to chemical irritants.\nIn a patrol capacity assigned to areas in marked ‘Patrol Assistant’ vehicle.\nPerforms traffic\, pedestrian\, and crowd control functions.\nIssues Notices of Violation relating to parking infractions.\nImpounds abandoned or illegally parked vehicles\, and/or lost property and prepares related paperwork.\nEnters data or information into a terminal or PC.\nPerforms investigations\, conducts investigation follow-ups\, and documents the information in a report.\nCollects data from various sources (i.e.\, computerized crime and traffic databases\, etc.).\nServes Subpoenas and Orders of Protection.\nAssists with the training and development of new employees.\nDemonstrates continuous effort to improve operations\, decrease turnaround times\, streamline work processes\, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.\n\nSALARY\nPay Range: $20.51 to $35.08 per hour \nHiring Range: $20.51 to $31.82 per hour \nPay Range Explanation: \n\nPay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.\nHiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely\, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
